My pieces of work are based on the beach around Morecombe Bay and the Fylde coast. I became intrigued by the patterns in the sand and developed my work, based on this.
For my exhibition piece, I selected a poignant photograph, out of the Museum's collections, of a boot resting by some cockle bags. This was taken after the cockling disaster of 2004. Using imagery and quotations, I have represented the events which lay behind this tragedy. My aim is to try to portray how the beach might hold a memory of such a tragic tale.
